Unfortunately a close family member died last month. I have found out that she may have left some money to my son (who's only 8). My husband and I are both in trust deeds, the final few months actually. It's been a very long and hard 4 years. If our son has been left a substantial amount in this relatives will, do our trust deeds have any effect on his inheritance? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi etots.

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss.

Money left to your son should not be affected by your trust deeds.

You may wish to take financial advice about the best way to ensure that this money is looked after for your son and to avoid any confusion with your trustee about who the beneficiary is.
