When being asked about buying a property I've always told people that ive looked but never found anywhere that I could see myself being tied to, with renting I can give a months notice and we can move to another property and that at some point I'm sure I will find something, however it's never been a must do now thing for me, I then change the subject by asking if you could buy a house anywhere in the world where would it be, you would be surprised how fast you onto holidays, culture, weather and relative. Works a treat.

I never told anyone about my trust deed as I always thought it was a bit of a taboo- no-one I know really discusses debt . I'd accrued too much debt during and after uni thinking I'd get a highly paid job and when I didn't I ran into problems. Looking back, I'd like to think I coped ok with the trust deed but I probably didn't early on!

Now it's over, I dont feel ashamed but I've definitely learned a lesson - Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it. I'm trying to continue to budget and put aside whatever money I can for emergencies, roughly half of what my payment was to the trust deed per month. Hopefully that way I'll stay out of debt trouble in the future.

Learn from history or doomed to repeat it - very wise words! What a good idea too to automatically direct some of the free cash straight into savings, good luck!
