Hi everyone im just looking for a bit of advice if possible.
Back in my younger days i ran up about £7000 worth of debt. Took out a Scottish Trust Deed but only made two payments to it before moving to start a new life so to speak. I went abroad for 9 years.
Anyway i have NEVER heard another thing from the company that i had the trust deed with. My correspondance address at the time was my aunts house and she never received one letter after i defaulted. I kept in touch with my aunt expecting her to say people had been looking/calling for me etc but nothing.
It was in September 2001 that i started the trust deed. I have checked to see if i was made bankrupt and can find no evidence of this and also checked the Edinburgh Gazette and can find the original trust deed but nothing after that to suggest i had been made bankrupt.
Anyway now that im older and (wiser i hope!) i want to know where i would stand with this. What would have happened to the trust deed would i still be in it and it will only be a matter of time that i hear from them? I would appreciate any advice that can be given.
Welcome to the trust deed forum djstevie.
It's hard to know what will have happened. You may need to contact the firm themselves to confirm the current position.
The trust deed may have been failed leaving you with the debts. It may remain open (this seems unlikely after all of this time, though it's curious that no correspondance went to your aunt's home). You might have been bankrupted.
Sorry that I cannot be more specific.
