Hi dls

Well done on your protected status!

There was a large thread on credit unions in October, if you search for credit unions you will find it.

Hello dls.

Congratulations on the transition to a protected trust deed and thank you for the kind words about this forum.

There is nothing connected to your trust deed that specifically stops you from having a contract mobile phone. If you have one already just carry on using it. If you're looking to get one it's just a case of making an application and seeing whether the company is prepared to provide you with one (which will just come down to the application of their specific acceptance criteria). If one turns you down it's probably worth trying another as they'll all have different policies.

There is also nothing to stop you joining (or staying in) a credit union, other than the policy of that individual credit union itself. We've heard varying stories about different credit unions, some of which appear to be supportive and others that have turned their back on persons who have dealt with their debts via a trust deed. If you have a particular credit union in mind it might be worth contacting them and openly talk through your situation and the view that they'd take on it.
