Now, I'm not one of those 'Mr C from London" types that firms use to promote their business - what I say here is 100% genuine.

I had a sizeable five-figure debt to my name, which looked like I would be old and (even more) grey before it would be cleared. If at all.

Minimum payments barely scratching the suface? Yep. Having to transfer balances to juggle outgoings? Same again.

This had been going on for years - something had to be done.

I started looking at a Trust Deed as an option.

Knowing very little about the process, myself and my wife initially met with one Glasgow firm to discuss details and I looked set to agree to go with them.

However, I then found this forum and, as a result, David Tannock at Wylie Bisset.

We met with David and, during that discussion, immediately decided a Trust Deed was the way to proceed and for Wylie Bisset to handle the matter.

That's unusual for me as I'm someone who has the tendency to overthink things!

David took the time to detail to the penny what we could afford and, realistically, what the creditors would agree to.

Myself and my wife liked the idea we would have a point of contact - as opposed to the other firm where we would be dealing with a faceless call centre.

David kept us to speed with how the application was progessing.

It resulted in last Monday our Trust Deed becoming protected.

A great relief and a solution to what was becoming a financial car crash.

I am not ashamed to admit there was embarrassment at being in this situation in the first place.

On the face of it - and without trying to sound twee - I had everything I wanted growing up.

But, in the end, a temporary red face or financial security for myself and the family? No contest.

If you too are in this situation - and if you're on this forum, I suspect you are - then I would gladly recommend getting in touch with David.

Have a chat, you'll get very sound advice - and hopefully you will also see the light at the end of the tunnel.

If anyone wants to get in touch with me meantime regarding my TD experience, please feel free via the forum.

Hi ginger78,

Thank you for taking the time to post an update on your situation and for the positive feedback.

I'm please I was able to help you successfully obtain a Trust Deed and start the journey to becoming debt free. I always think the best way to do things is to sit down and go over everything face to face.

It's really over to you now to maintain the payments and providing you do you will be debt free at the end. Before you know it you will be coming to the end and we will be having your completion chat and discussing your Form 5 discharge.

You know where I am if you have and problems or questions.

Thanks for sharing your story Ginger. Are you able to share a little more about how this has helped you?

How much have you been able to reduce your monthly payments from / to?

Do you own your property? If so, does it have equity and how is that being dealt with in your trust deed?

What was it that made you switch from one company to another when you were considering a trust deed?
