I am shortly due to marry my partner who is in a protected trust deed. However I am not sure how our marriage would affect my credit. I had been intending on taking my fiances name but people are telling me I shouldn't. We already live together and his contribution to bills would not change. The only financial aspects of our life that are in joint names are our rent and our council tax. Everything else is either in my name or his. Would changing my name affect this?
I'm really confused about all this now ๐Ÿ™
Can anybody help?

Hi mandy1305 and welcome.

I really don't think there is an issue with changing your name, I cannot see what problem that could cause you.

One of our members may have been in a similar situation and it would be interesting to hear their thoughts on this, but I don't think you should allow the trust deed to stop a name-change as I cannot see any reason to justify that.

It shouldn't affect your status as he is already at the same address as you so is already linked to you via that
