Hi i lost my ipad which had every single piece of personal information you could imagine about me on it. Which got me concerned over identity theft. Yesterday morning Saturday 19th July i got a V5 document from the DVLA registering a new car at my address. Which i do not have. i have been in touch with the DVLA over this matter. My question to ask here is if my worse fears come true and someone is messing with my personal stuff. As i have a trust teed will that make it 100% impossible for anyone to obtain any form of credit in my name no matter how big or small it is? I would like to think the answer to this would be a resounding yes?

It's not impossible to get credit while you are in a TD. Most responsible lenders would turn you down because of your credit history but you may get accepted at certain places, often at crazy APR rates ( such as payday lenders). I'm fresh out of a TD but got a credit card while still in it so that I could use it sensibly and pay it off each month so that t looks good on my credit file.

Hopefully the V5 thing is a mix up. Did you not brick the ipad remotely when it was stolen using 'Find My iphone'?

Glad that's over with....

Welcome to the forum Stingray.

I'm afraid that people can and do obtain credit during their trust deeds, as upstream says.

Hi Stingray,

As upstream and TDA have advised people can still obtain credit whilst in a Trust Deed.

You may want to look at your credit file to see if anything else has been registered in your name i.e. credit cards, loans etc. You can use Experian, Equifax or Callcredit for this. All of them offer a free 30 day trial.
