Hi guys,

Anyone in the house had any luck or knows anyone securing a mortgage a year and a half or so after a trust deed? I have a decent deposit. Thanks in advance

Hi I managed to get a DIP today via a broker and they're confident it should all be ok. I declared my trust deed and the only criteria they had was it had to be 3 years post discharge, no defaults or adverse for the past 6 month and have to pass the affordability checks.

I'll let you know how things go. I can't process to full application until 05/03/17 as that's when I'll be 3 years post trust deed.

There' are 2 lenders that can consider me, but that's because I'm specifically looking at help to buy. There will be more options if it's a standard mortgage and may have different criteria. I used a whole or market broker who have been fantastic so far. I'd defo recommend this when you're ready to go for it.

Glasgow Credit Union could be someone to approach for advice. They promote that it's a person rather than computer software that makes the lending decision on a mortgage. Only catch is you need to live or work in a G postcode.

They advised me a number of years ago they would consider someone 1 year after their discharge as long as they met the rest of their lending criteria.

I don't think brokers will be aware of them and they don't tend to feature on comparison websites.
