Hi,
I am one of the thousands who has been Furloughed at my part time job. This resulted a 20% income loss.
My main job cut my monthly hours back. These two steps resulted app. £180 back in my monthly income.
Can I please continue my monthly contribution toward to TD if I change my Child Maintenance contract with my ex? If she agrees I can keep my monthly budget in balance.
Do I need to inform my Trustee about this please?
Thank you.
Hi questionmark.
Definitely speak with your trustee. There’s much more flexibility around at the moment than normal because so much has changed that people could not control.
I’d suggest talking to your trustee first, before looking to make changes with your ex.
Hi. Thank you for your quick response. My main point is to keep my monthly co tri ution on the same level and finishing TD as it has planned. If my monthly payment decreases I will pay longer time. I would inform my Trustee if really necesarry. They might have more important cases. My ex is also flexible as she would like to see me out of this situation.
Thank you again TDA. I will do that:)
Good morning Question Mark.
In the last 5 weeks, our firm have undertaken an extensive review of cases prompted by queries from clients regarding furloughing and reduction of income.
Whilst there is a reduction of income, there may also be a reduction on income such as reduced petrol costs, meals at work, gym membership etc.
Every case will need to be treated differently. As TDA suggests, it would be best to speak with your trustee. Most trustees will allow a degree of flexibility but still have to follow the process.

Hi Paul. Yes, you are right. As TDA has just advised I wrote email to my Trustee including letter stating the fact of income decrease. And also after recalculated my expenditures saw that paying the same amount will not cause any issues for the next month as falling on other expenditures. They said that need to send my new payslip about the new income and we will see after that. As cinema closed and I'm on home office (travel costs are low, almost nothing). I will write them at the beginning of the next month again. I will start my last year of payment so will do my best to finish in time if possible. Thank you again.
