I have finally received my Form 5 in relation to my Trust Deed started in December 2012, delayed due to paperwork being misplaced.
I would like to start trying to build up my credit rating again and wondered if anyone could advise me on what is the best course of action to do this.
I have had a credit card for about a year now which I pay off on time religiously. I took this out as someone advised it was a good way to start building up credit score again.
I have also read on line that it would be a good idea to photocopy the Form 5 and send out with a cover letter to credit agencies asking them to update their records to show that I am discharged. Is this a good idea, and if so how do I go about finding out the credit agencies I would need to inform. Also what would be the best wording of the cover letter?

Hi Lesley,

Great to hear that you have your discharge now.

The following page tells you about the three main credit reference agencies.

There's no point in writing to the credit reference agencies if they have already updated your record in response to the public records of your discharge. You may wish to access the reports to see whether this will be necessary before putting too much effort in.
