I made my final payment to my trust deed on May 1st,2012. In June my trustees contacted my wife and I to advise us that they were now going to investigate any PPI that we may have had on previous borrowings. How long can the trustees take before they discharge us or send us a discharge certificate? I was under the impression that the trust deed lasted 3 years. Any advice would be greatly received.

Welcome to the forum patmcg1960.

Most trust deed firms would consider that they could discharge you while they remain in office to see if any PPI claims can boost returns for your creditors.

One firm has been mentioned on here a few times as not discharging their clients while they do this.

Is there any length of time that the trustees can take over the pursuit of ppi and is it worthwhile writing to them to request discharge almost 4 months after my trust deed ended?

I'd certainly be asking.

When was your trust deed signed?

It would seem that you could be discharged patmcg1960.

I hope your trust deed firm agree to do so as soon as possible.

Will get a letter off to them over the weekend. I suppose if you don't ask you don't get! Thanks for all your help. Will let you know how I get on.
