Finally, after a personal injury claim was settled (last TD payment made Feb 21), i've received the Form 5 and also 15 days later Trustee on the AIB website is now discharged as well. This site has provided so much useful information in supporting people through this process, particularly post trust deed.
During my TD and only 2 years in i was accepted for a vanquis and 118 credit card. Although my credit score would unlikely change given the defaults and recorded TD on it, i only used these cards for very small items to ensure balance was being paid off monthly and the score did rise slowly. Having made my final payment, a few months after and still waiting for discharge due to the personal injury claim, i required a new car and in discussion with the TD company they sent a letter directly through to a vehicle finance company stating I was no longer obligated to make any further payments and I got the finance I required albeit at a higher rate than normal, but to be expected at that stage.
Using the free 30 day checkmyfile offer, and checking the default dates, my TD is due to fall off the credit report end of January 23, but the 3 defaults are showing Feb/March 23, so using the ICO (Information Commissioners Office) search register on their website i easily located the default companies data controller email address and used the template letter they provide and sent them off with a scan of my Form 5. Although they have 28 days to respond, Max Recovery through another company aryza-evolve, have already responde within 10 days stating they will make necessary changes to default date and update record to say partially settled. The website does state when sending to the data controller use the complaint template as companies will respond quicker.
Still waiting for Link Financial to respond as if they don't I would need to escalate it higher to ensure changes are made. Currently in process of saving for a mortgage, so hoping once the TD and defaults have fallped off altogether, i'll start discussing my options with a mortgage broker to see my options and will be able to provide further updates and hopefully some positive news about life after the TD. Big thanks to all the professional advisors who are going out their way to respond to all sorts of queries.
Congratulations on your discharge, SmithyJ - that's great news.
Thanks for taking the time to let us know about how your post-Trust Deed credit file clean-up is progressing too. Some really useful information there.
