Hi Arrow1984,

It could take a number of months for any compensation claim to be settled. My mum was involved in a car accident last year which wasn't her fault and the other party admitted liability. She suffered injuries as a result and it took approximately 7 months for an injury claim to be settled and compensation sent out to her. She had a solicitor deal with her accident and injury claim so it was fairly straight forward for my mum although it did take a while for the other party to admit liability which was the frustrating part.

If you haven't financially lost out as a result of the accident then as TDA has advised your Trustee consider claiming any compensation that you receive.

As TDA has advised keep a note of any costs that have arisen as a result of the accident that you may be out of pocket for. This could be taxi costs if you have had to attend hospital or the doctors, if you have a child seat in the car then these should be replaced so this could be a cost that you incur. If you have had a courtesy car and needed to pay any extra insurance for this then this could be a cost that could be claimed back. These are all the things that the solicitor made my mum aware of and to ensure she kept receipts.

It took almost 3 weeks for the car to be repaired so it could take a little longer for you to get your car back.
