Advice,

I entered my trust deed April 2007 and paid it off Sept 2009. I have spent the last 2 years trying to get all my defaults to say satisfied/ settled and nearly there (4 left which i have emails for saying they will amend).
I work for a bank which was an issue when first employed though i did tell them about the trust deed but due to an error by them my job was still offered to me. I have obviously get no more debt of anykind. I have been offered a new job from another bank and i am worried about the credit check. I have no outstanding debt, have proof that my last 4 defaults should be settled, have a very clear credit history since my trust deed was put in place with no missed payments of any kind and experian score of 900. I didnt state anything about my trust deed at interview as it was settled 2 years ago and as i work for a financial instituion i didnt think it would be an issue but now very worried about it. Any clarification on where i stand on this.

Welcome to the trust deed forum Freshayr.

It's a difficult issue to provide certainty for you on as the answer will come down to the employment policies of your prospective employer (and perhaps the judgements of their recruitment team).

Having said that, it's now nearly two years since you put all of this behind you so I'd hope that you will not find the trust deed to be a bar to getting this job.

We've often advised people to be upfront about this issue when applying for jobs but, as you appear to be some distance into the process (and your trust deed is finished), you'll need to weigh up whether that's appropriate for you at this time.

Thanks,

I thought it wise at the time to not bring it up as i was of the opinion that it was a matter i had taken positive steps to clear up and clearly i have a very clean credit history since completion. The outstanding defaults are infuriating however in total there are a very small amount which i am certain i can eventually clean up. I am remaining positive about this as i have no debt (apart from mortgage) it was two years ago, have no missed payments of any kind on existing files (bank, mortgage) and can easily exlplain why the trust deed was entered into.

Fingers crossed.

Please let us know how you get on Freshayr as it will be useful for future visitors.

I'm hopeful that all will be OK; others that have posted in this forum have been able to secure new jobs in the banking sector while currently in trust deeds.

Good luck.
