Hi,
I have been in my trust deed for just over 2 years now. I was employed by a finance organisation and was forced to leave as i would have faced disciplinary for entering a trust deed.
The only reason i took a trust deed was because of joint debts following a relationship split and my ex partner refused to make any payments. I have since been able to find work in the finance sector for a pensions organisation.
I am looking to change jobs but am worried as I have received an application form which asks about my trust deed and default history. I am worried that there is no point in me attending interview as the employer will discriminate because of my financial situation. Is there any way I can find out if an employer is likely to have a problem with this without actually asking the question?
Any help on this would be appreciated!
Welcome to the trust deed forum bagpuss1979.
Would it be possible for you (or a friend) to contact the recruitment team at the possible new employer and ask this anonymously and in a very straightforward way?
The recruiters will probably welcome this question; they will not want to use a lot of time working on your application/recruitment if the trust deed will ultimately prevent you being hired.
You may also find that they have a more flexible attitude to their recruitment criteria and that the trust deed is just one factor in your application that may be balanced by your strengths and experience.
The fact that you have managed your finances carefully for two years during your trust deed, and that you will soon be able to put the trust deed behind you, might also be in your favour as well if presented to them in the right way.
