I thought trust deeds were a secret that you would not tell your friends or family members (well I would'nt) anyway I am getting emails from a company whom I will not name asking me to refer a friend for a trust deed for 100 quid!
I thought we only done this type of thing when we bought cars etc, surely these Trust Deed Companies are making good money and the recession would not harm their business (the opposite methinks!)
Hi sam21.
From what we hear trust deed providers are like any other business at the moment, some are doing well and others are struggling commercially. The number of protected trust deeds has actually been falling quite quickly in recent times despite the effects of the "squeeze".
I do know what you mean though about the "refer a friend" type of marketing... I can understand why some people could not personally consider that to be an appropriate or attractive message.
From an ironic standpoint, I wonder if your own trust deed company were to pay you ยฃ100 for a referral whether they would then consider that they have a responsibility to claim it back from you as a windfall to be paid into your trust deed!

LOL, fantastic answer and comments, yeah true they would probably ask for it back or maybe pay it to a "third party", know what i mean.
When i set up my trust deed the company I used ( very well known) had one guy who was employed by them to do the house visits and get the paperwork signed, im guessing he worked on a commision basis or something similar as i only found out about trust deeds after filling in a debt form online and getting a call from this guy telling me about them, after we signed and his part was done (no fee charged by him) he asked us if we knew of anyone in the same situation to pass on his details. At the time I too thought the same, no way I would tell anyone, however I told my very trusted friend and as it happens after hearing how it worked her husband entered one and my husband told a close work friend only to find out he already had a trust deed and as time went on my husbands friend told many people about his, however a true friend never mentioned ours. Everyone is different and im sure by offering an incentive or dealing with people in a positive manner a good number of people in trust deeds will suggest it to others at some point over the 3 years or once complete.
