I have received my discharge from my trustee. How do I go about resetting my credit level and as I require a car, how long would it be before I can once again obtain credit?

Hi pasangus, you should check your credit report and make sure all default dates are the same date you signed your TD, also that all debts are marked as settled. If not you need to write to each creditor requesting they update your information - include a copy of your discharge (their is a good template letter on MSE forums, just search forum for Life after a trust deed and someone has posted it on there).

With regards to a new car, I had the same problem, about 1.5 years after my TD I needed to replace my rust bucket, I could not get a loan however I did get accepted for a brand new car (it was Ford and via Black Horse, I wasn't excepted straight away, my application was reviewed and I heard back within 24 hours). Hope this helps.

Welcome to the trust deeds forum pasangus.

Congratulations on completing your trust deed.

Some great suggestions from blacklily there. Here is a page on this site that you might find to be useful:
