Can you advise me on the discharge process on a trust deed? We signed in March 2008 and made a final payment in March 2012 but have received no formal communication from the trustee. I have received e-mails and phone calls assuring me that we have definately paid everything owed but the discharge process cannot begin due to changes in VAT legislation which affect every current trust deed? Can you clarify this for me? I have been advised that our income is not subject to the trust deed conditions but any windfall type would be? I'm find this rather frustrating as we want to get on with our life but are being held back by this and are not being kept fully updated? Any advice would be appreciated - thanks

This issue with VAT has been discussed quite a lot here recently, including on the following forum thread:

I can appreciate that this will be frustrating for you, not least because your trust deed was signed just before April 2008 which means there is no easy way to speed things up.
I think you'll need to carry on chasing up your trustee for updates and hope they make the decisions about their VAT position very soon.
