Hi there

I made my final payment last month and I'm told that I'm to receive a Form 5 discharge and a letter explaining the situation re Trustee's discharge

Does anyone know what this involves?

thanks

Hello gt2001 and welcome to the forum.

Congratulations on reaching the end of your protected trust deed.

Form 5 is the document issued to you by your trustee once you have completed your responsibilities to your trust deed. This discharge becomes official once it has been recorded on the Register of Insolvencies (you can access this via the Accountant in Bankruptcy's website).

The trustee also needs to be discharged. They cannot do this until they have completed their work on your case, which may take some time. In practical terms this should make little or no difference to you though.

Thanks for the quick reply!

So is there anything further I need to do? My house was valued at the beginning of the Trust deed and I paid the equity that was due.

Hi gt2001,

Well done on reaching this point in your Trust Deed.

If you have completed all of your payments and paid the equity for your property at the outset then there shouldn't be anything else that you need to do. All you are waiting on now is your Form 5 discharge certificate.

How have you found the Trust Deed process?

Thanks David

I found the process pretty smooth and have had no issues at all. It's taught me how to manage my money and I'll make sure I never get myself in this situation again

I think that it's one of the benefits of a Trust Deed in that it will help teach you how to manage your finances and budget better as you don't have the credit to fall back on. I regularly hear that now from clients and people on the forum.

I'm pleased it's been a smooth process and worked as it should have for you. Let us know when you receive your Form 5 as you can then join the Form 5 club!

Hi again gt2001.

In terms of your "anything else to do" question you might want to run this by your trustee.

It doesn't sound like there will be, but obviously we don't know the full details of your trust deed or circumstances.
