Good Evening All,

I was wondering if you could give me some help and advice regarding my trust deed?

I started my trust deed in 2012 and paid more than what was due to allow me to close the trust deed a year before the final payment was due to be made. I received my Form 5 and Form 6 in the mail but there has been not many changes to my credit report.

I noticed that two of the companies I was due money too have put a default on my credit file every month since mid 2012 and although the trust deed has been settled and accounts closed they are still putting defaults against it.

Am I right in saying that the default should only show at the beginning or do defaults show right through the term of your trust deed? What concerns me is that the information stays on my record for 6 years but as they are still defaulting me the 6 years will never be up.

Hope this makes sense and any help would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum ABZScotland.

I hope the following article will help to answer your questions - please have a read and then let us know if you need to clarify things further:

https://www.trust-deed.co.uk/repair-your-credit-rating.html

In short - any default notices should now be marked at least partially satisfied and the balances set to zero. This should ensure no presence of these accounts on your credit file six years after your trust deed began.

You'll probably need to push each of the relevant creditors to accomplish this I'm afraid.

Thanks TDA,

I am struggling to understand when the Default symbol should stop appearing? Once the trust deed started on once it has finished? I am unsure what I am asking if I write to them? Am I asking for the default details to be stopped at the date my trust deed started or finished?

Hi ABZ

Same thing happened to me with one creditor, I used a free trial with Credit Expert and they wrote and got them to "make good" their entry on my credit file.

Hope that helps.

As TDA says though, your trust deed will appear on the credit file until 2018.

Hi again.

Tinsoldier makes a good suggestion.

I'm no expert on credit files, but I suspect once the actual default notice (a single one-time dated event) has been properly addressed this monthly reporting will stop.

Barclay Card and Creation finance haven't updated my file correctly.
Both show full amounts owing and accounts currently in default, even though I completed my PTD a year ago.

Looks like I will need to contact them both.

It does seem like it Jinty.

It doesn't feel right, but if a credit rating is important to someone, some proactive intervention often seems necessary after completing a debt solution.
