Hi there. Just wanted to say this a great forum with lots of advice and I used it lots whilst in my trust deed.

So my problem is now I'm trying to clear up my credit file. Trust deed became protected may 2011 and finished Sept 2015. one company is still defaulting me every month. I have called and told them what the dates should be and they are insisting they are allowed to default me every month until 2017 when the whole account will fall off my credit file. Is this correct? Are they allowed to do this.

They also advised me that they only received their payment in June 2016 when I have paperwork saying it was paid last year.

I'm just finding all this so confusing. Is there anyone who can advise or someone I can go to to have this sorted out or is that just wishful thinking lol

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum Josander31 and thank you for your kind words.

They're wrong! Under the Data Protection Act they should not be reporting incorrect information to the credit reference agencies. If the money is no longer owed, how could you be in default?

This article includes what the Information Commissioner's Office tell us that they expect to happen:

You could make a formal complaint to the firm itself. You could also contact the Information Commissioner's Office if you're unhappy with the way you're being treated. They might contact the firm concerned if they believed that to be appropriate.

Thanks for your help. It's such a task to sort all this out especially when you have no idea what your doing.

I can understand that Josander31.

Probably made more difficult as well by the occasional creditor that has no idea what they're meant to do.
