Hi, I have been discharged for almost 6 months but my credit file shows Default. Will this stay this way until 3 years after my trust deed has finished. I am also still waiting on form 6. I am also still receiving letters from one of my creditors? Am I still receiving letters as I dont have form 6? Thank you

Hi murphy.

Could you please explain what exactly says "default" on your credit file?

The term has different meanings depending upon the context it is used in.

Form 6 will follow when your trustee has completed their obligations. They're not subject to any particular timescale on this.

If you contact the creditor who is writing to you, you should be able to demonstrate that you have been discharged. Your discharge is the point at which you owe no money to them and they should update your credit report accordingly. This should also stop letters from coming to you.

Hi, thank you for replying.

The credit report shows Lender, Balance and update. The Balance is the amount that is was 4 years ago when I entered the Trust Deed and the update states Default.

Do I need to contact the 2 lenders and advise them that I have form 5?

Thanks

You're correct murphy.

Get in touch, provide details of your discharge if necessary, and require them to update your credit file accordingly.

If that doesn't happen within a reasonable period of time you may wish to make a complaint.
