Hi just a wee update re previous post, despite having a credit score of 999 - today I applied for PCP finance with Arnold Clark and was declined.

Absolutely gutted as I really thought after successfully completing my trust deed (although not yet discharged) as I am currently repaying my equity that I might be lucky enough to secure a new car.

Anyone had any luck after a knock back.

Thanks

Carole

problem I think is as your not discharged so still in trust deed till equity is paid off and form 5 issued your classed as still at risk
as any windfall's etc. will still go to trustee not sure how you would get fianc?® on car as surely trustee would finds out they would ask why you paying for a car and not more into equity?
I too thought of this as I have paid all off trust and equity but more fianc?® is not the way to go I don't want them thinking I can pay them more

Hi Cody,
I contacted Arnold Clark's finance dept as I didn't want a ping on my credit file. (Not that that matters really as I'm still in a TD so it's rubbish anyway!) and they advised they would not under any circumstances provide any form of credit whilst still in the TD. - that includes paying any equity over. They did say to call again once I'd been discharged though and that she couldn't see a problem in obtaining a PCP deal at that point. I do believe there are companies who will give u credit but the interest rates are ridiculous and not worth it. Anyway, just thought I'd let u know my experience 🙂

Hi Cody,

Like others have advised I think because you are still subject to the Trust Deed and not discharged you will find it difficult to secure finance for a new vehicle.

Like Nemo1 has advised there are companies which will lend to you but the rate of interest that they charge is unbelievable. I had one case last year and the car was in the region of £7,000 and in total the client was going to repay around £15,000 back.

How long do you have left paying the equity? Do you think you could manage until then and when you have received your discharge try again?
