I have been out of a trust deed for a lot of years now and I am still getting letters from debt collection companies is this normal and when wil they ever stop

Send them a copy of your form 5 and it should stop. you should also check your credit files to make sure that the accounts are not recorded there.

If you continue to get chased you can formally complain to them and the original creditor and then through the Financial Ombudsman Services.
Defaulted accounts are traded whole sale to collection companies who will then try to collect on the old debt its not common but not unusual either.
