Hello,

General question - I entered into a protected trust deed Oct 2009. I kept on my mortgaged property but could not afford payments, my Trustee advised perhaps going down the Coluntary Surrender route, which i did. This went to court and was passed AUG 2011.

Anyway since I have had 2 debt agencies writing and emailing about money i owe on the property for electricity/gas and cable. I paid all accounts before leaving and wrote to the 2 companies advising i was leaving and would not be at property from Oct 2010 (Unfortunately I do not have copies of these letters)

I have emaplained to the electricity company that the meter were turned off last year, it had been vacant since and no usage has went through meter. The bill they are chasing for ยฃ600 is estimated and i do not owe this. However, they will not stop stalking me! I dont know what to do.
Can I use my trust deed as a way to advise them to stop contacting me? Or is it a case they can do this as this was "debts" achieved after the trust deed went protected.

I do not owe this money and cannot get them to stop.

Any help woud be appreciated.

Thanks,
Lyndsay.

Hi lyndsay85 and welcome to the trust deed forum.

I'm not sure that the trust deed is relevant in this as you have indicated that these "debts" arose after you signed the trust deed.

You may therefore wish to investigate what you can do to escalate the complaints that you have with the companies concerned.

For example, I believe Consumer Focus (Consumer Direct) may be able to provide you with assistance over a dispute about electricity.

Take any letters straight to Citizens Advice (check the Citizens Advice Scotland website for opening times of your local centre) and they will be happy to deal with it for you.
