Hi jojo93.

In terms of your DAS, I don’t think a weekly payment will be a problem at all.

I can’t see any need for a formal variation.

The trickiest bit is probably managing other monthly direct debit bill payments. I know a lot of people try to spread these around each month, to fit in better with the availability of their earnings.

I don't like disagreeing with TDA [:I] but I think it probably would be better to go for a formal variation - it lets creditors know that there has been a change to the agreement they signed up to and it means that you can simply re-set your direct debit to the DAS once the variation has gone through.

If you don't make that formal change then I don't think your payment distributor can change the DD to weekly, so you'd have to phone up each week and pay. That's a hassle and it's easy to accidentally miss a payment or few along the way [:(]

There will be some changes to DAS at the start of next month and a few of those changes are to make variations quicker and easier. I'm not sure if this type of variation would be covered by those changes - I'm a bit out of the loop on the new stuff - but there's no harm in asking your money adviser about that too.

Thank you candlewick. One of the best things about this forum is people stepping in to make sure we’re providing accurate and useful information.

From what I’ve read there will be some really significant advantages for people starting DAS after these changes come into effect in November. Some commentators are making excellent points about whether/if/how those benefits might apply (or could be applied) to those already in DAS.

Hi jojo93.

I think you should ask your administrator this question directly. They'll be able to confirm what evidence (if any) you'll need to provide.

I don't envisage that this will be a very difficult issue if there's no overall change to your husband's income and capacity to pay.

Hi tda

If your payments move from monthly to weekly then a variation is required . I do not foresee your creditors rejecting that !
I agree with tda , once the new regulations come into force a lot
Of these issues will be resolved more easily.
