The cashminder cards used to be electron but I thought that was changed. I use pay at pumps all the time.

Just on the Visa Debit/Electron confusion, had a look at other forums. I gather that the Coop started changing over folk from Visa Electron to a proper Visa Debit last year. I have had no problems since getting my second card. I cut and pasted this from another forum;

The AID for a visa debit is 31010, you can see this on any receipt. The A ID for a visa electron is 321010.

Checked two receipts today and my code is happily showing as 31010. My old card did have some issues being used online. Hopefully this will sort itself out in time for all Coop customers. If you have an Electron card, maybe an idea to call Coop and say your card has been damaged and the new one they send you will be a bona fide Debit card with any luck.

just for info. I've been with Secure Trust bank since December 2011 and still worry about where it will be not accepted. To date only a couple of small shops don't take it, and also on a train. Can use at stations t counter or self serve machine though. Was told it has something to do with the onboard machine being hand held or something.

Hope that helps

i should add, I'm referring to the prepaid mastercard which is linked to my current account. A monthly fee of ?é£12.95 applies, sadly.

Yeah that is a bit of a raw deal Rodney. Lots of better options around for current accounts. I am sure you could put the £12.50 per month to better use. Every penny counts whilst you are in a TD.

Had a look at their website and it's an odd set up, in that the card they give you isn't actually for your account. I see that the card has a seperate account, so you must be having to move your money onto the card from the main account. Seems a bit messy. Paying in options aren't brilliant as your funds don't clear straight away.
