Hello Johnd2576.

Unless you have joint accounts it must be a mistake that your fathers accounts show on your credit file. Contact the lenders and request that they immediately update you.

I'm not really sure what to advise in terms of cleaning up your credit file... what needs doing (if anything) really depends upon what is showing there.

Could you let us know what you can see?

I have no joint accounts with my father who is no longer with us, do you mean I contact my late fathers lenders?

I do Johnd2576.

I suspect that it will be their error in reporting this information to your records held with the credit reference agencies.

The contact details are often listed on the credit report.

So this isn't an experian error? I have to contact my late fathers lenders?

Hi Johnd2576.

I don't know, but usually the credit reference agencies just report what the lenders have reported to them.

You could try to speak to Experian about it - it might be easier for you if it were their error.

Now you have to do the same with Equifax and Noddle/Call Credit.

Hi Johnd2576,

It's interesting to hear that details of your late father's creditors appear on your credit file but it sounds like it was easily resolved with Experian which is good.

Bert Rudge makes a good point about ensuring Equifax and Call Credit have the correct information.

It just isn't something you would ever give consideration to when trying to decide on a name for your child. Something that you did 20-30 years ago can cause that little bit of trouble so many years later.
