Do I write to the companies I owed money to to update the records and then how do I know that all of the credit check companies, ie. Noddle, Experian etc will be updated or do I write to the credit check companies. Sorry for all the questions I obviously need to do a bit more research through previously asked questions.....

Hi WIKIKEE.

You need to ask the lenders to update the files.

To confirm this has been done you'd need to check the various agencies later.

Hi

I sat n wrote my letters later on this afternoon. I have included a copy of my discharge letter too.
I didnt realise that we had to write to them to update the records. None of this was ever explained to me anyway.
I think its quite bad that we have to write to them to ask them to update their records.
Did they not get sent a copy of our discharge letter?
Anyway, its done now. Will get them in the postbox tomorrow morning.

Hi macaulay956.

Sometimes people will leave it a few weeks after their discharge to contact creditors to give them an opportunity to make the updates without being prompted.

From what I've read here, some just get on with it while others need some "encouragement".
