Hi there,
I was discharged in May 2015 from a trust deed and on my credit file things are still showing as defaulted. However some of the debts on there i dont even recognise!!! There are some that dont appear on my original record of PTD so i wondered what i do? Should they all be marked satisfied by now?? I have a morbid fear of calling these companies to be told they are not settled and i am still in debt ๐
Thanks in advance
Sally
Hi ducky1978.
Let's start with some reassurance - all normal types of debt that existed when your trust deed was signed are included. So if such a creditor thinks you owe them money, it doesn't mean that you actually owe them money.
Might some of your debts have been sold on to debt purchasers? This is very common and may result in names being on your credit record that you don't recognise. Perhaps you'd like to give us a couple of examples so we can comment further?
Once you're discharged you're entitled for your included default notices to be marked as being satisfied or partially satisfied. You're also entitled to have the balances reduced to zero on your credit report. If this hasn't happened (which is sadly common) then you'll need to contact the creditors individually to ensure that they get on with it.
Thanks! I think i was scared to contact them in case i owe them money! I will get on to it as if they cannot pursue me then i will lose the fear!!
Thanks Sal
