I received my Trust Deed discharge in the post on Friday which is rather exciting after such a long process. Next on my list is to make sure I get my credit file up to date but this is where im stuck I know of experian (Who want to charge me a crazy £14.99 a month!) but im not sure if there are any others i need to sign up too and get updated as well. Any advice would be great.
I believe you can request a paper copy from experian for £3.
I know there are 3 credit reference agencies that are usually recommended; Equifax, Experian and Callcredit. I'm sure you can request a paper copy from the other 2 as well to save you signing up.
Congrats on your discharge & goodluck!
Hi - you can view your credit report via Noddle for free. You just need a debit card to sign up - they take a few pence from your account and put it back in, just to verify who you are. I have a noddle account and have never had any problems with them taking money from me.
I would recommend at least seeing all your reports from each agency as they can vary hugely. It would help you make sure each one was correct - you can get them by post from each agency which is cheaper or I am sure you can get a free month trial with each agency and just remember to cancel.
Hope this helps
Hi itsboyle.
As mentioned already, it's understood that the credit reference agencies vary in the completeness and accuracy of what they report.
I believe that they do all offer free versions, which may be worth taking advantage of initially. See:
https://www.trust-deed.co.uk/repair-your-credit-rating.html
The cheaper statutory reports may be useful later to confirm that lenders have actioned what they said that they would do.
Before you start using the free versions I'd leave it a few weeks during which some of the lenders are likely to update your file without any prompting. This will save you some work.
