Hi All,
I make my last payment in the next few days,I am just wondering most of my creditors have set my account to default/satisfied or satisfactory/settled,but there is one creditor that has it as satisfactory/£7320,do i contact this creditor and ask them to update the file to satisfied?and do i do this once ive made my final payment or when i have been discharged?

Hi nearlythere.

My understanding is that this request would be best timed a couple of weeks after you have been discharged from your protected trust deed. Your discharge confirms that you no longer owe the money. Your credit file should reflect this reality.

From experince from clients creditors do not update there system unless they have received 100p to the £ plus stat intrest at 8% p.a. If they do decide not to update their system it will be on credit rating for 6 years when they put it on. Many creditors also do not update there system until the trustee has sent the final circular with the divedend prospects.

Hello topdog and welcome.

I'm sure you're right in terms of your observation, but this isn't right in terms of what could and should happen.

The expectation of how default notices should be dealt with after discharge from a trust deed is pretty clear:
