My partner and I have been in a trust deed for 2 years and were thinking of applying for a credit card to help our future credit rating. Can someone explain how this would help since the fact that we have been in a trust deed is held on file for six years.?..,

I'm sure people have got credit cards even though they are in a trust deed, vanquis etc, just use it for petrol, groceries etc,and pay it back as soon as possible, seems to be the view of many.Hope this helps.

Welcome to the forum Shonal.

Getting a credit card during a trust deed isn't without risk.

Used well though it will demonstrate to lenders in the future that your recent credit use has been positive.

Used badly it could cause all sorts of problems.
