I've applied for a credit card, one which specialises in offering a low credit limit to those who have had credit problems.
I applied online, was told the application was completed successfully and approval was subject to telephone contact which would be made shortly.
Is there a chance it will be approved? I'd really like to rebuild my credit history.
Hi tinsoldier.
Does your credit file show your protected trust deed being completed?
I'd say there was a chance, these cards exist to service the needs of people with poor credit histories (and therefore help them to improve them) and the credit card provider will, I'm sure, have loaded their perception of the "risk" into the interest rates on offer.
Hi TDA
I've no idea if it does or not, my last payment was only 1st July so perhaps not - does each monthly payment to the TD show up? (never missed any)
Hi tinsoldier.
Sorry that I've been so slow to reply to you.
I don't think that each trust deed payment shows up; lenders report to credit reference agencies but I'm not aware that any trust deed companies do.
I would be very surprised if any credit card provider knowingly provided a new credit card to someone who is currently in a trust deed. If they're looking into this aspect of your credit file I suspect they'd want to know that you have been discharged.
Thanks TDA.
I'm in the process of being discharged at the moment so i'll wait and see what happens.
Hi tinsoldier
I applied like you for a low credit limit £500 and was amazed when it arrived.
I told the dude about TD and bad credit etc.,lve not used it yet but it shpws that it can be done.
As Tda says the intrest rates are on the large side so be careful.
