Below paragraph came from Knightsbridge to my partners solicitor as she is trying to sell her house but ex partner is still named on mortgage, they informed her solicitor that they have no claim on any equity on sale but mentioned this below, anyone explain ?

TIA

I can confirm that due to the Property Abandonment Fee being paid, we do not hold an interest or expect any equity proceeds to be introduced into the Trust Deed.

However, please note, that there will be a £500 Fee for the signing and reviewing of the Renunciation that will need to be sent to us. In addition to this, please can you send us a copy of the missives and mortgage redemption statement for our records.

Best to speak to your partner's solicitor about this directly burns40.

To my untrained eye, they're looking for £500 for the administrative work they'll need to do to enable this transaction to happen. Don't rely on my thoughts though when legal representation is already in place.

Thanks for the reply, I have said to my partner that she should get her solicitor to ask Knightbridge to explain what the £500 is for
