Only posted once before but a regular follower. Sorry if this has been asked before, but I am a little confused by some of the posts regarding the TD entry on credit files. I signed TD 2 May 2011 and was discharged 2 Sept 14. I was under the impression the TD and all defaulted accounts fall off your credit file 6 years after the TD was signed. I have checked all the dates of the default accounts and most have the 2 May 11 (in the process of trying to correct the last 2!) But having read a lot of posts today, it's 6 years after your discharge date. Is this correct?
I meant to say 3 years after your discharge date!
Defaults will vanish from your credit files 6 years after the date they were registered. It's nothing to do with when you are discharged as it's possible of course to have defaults on your credit record without having entered a TD.
If any of the registered dates for your defaults are different from the date of your trust deed, contact those creditors and ask them to change the default date to the date of your trust deed.
So come the 3rd May 2017, any defaults on your file that were recorded on the 2nd May 2011, will have gone.
Yes I understand that mapleleaf, I am in the process of getting the last 2 defaults date changed to 2 may 2011. But will the TD fall off on 3 May this year too? Or will that be 3 September this year?
The reason I am asking is because I am hoping to apply for a mortgage later on in the year.

Yes, the trust deed will also fall off your credit files 6 years after they were registered. However, it will still show on the ROI website for 1 year after your trustee's discharge.
When applying for a mortgage, I would advise you do so via a broker and tell them about your Trust Deed. Some lenders won't accept you until you've been discharged for 3 years. The broker will know who best to approach for a mortgage.
My Trustee was discharged in 2015 so when I search on the ROI nothing comes up ๐ I won't be making an application till the defaults and TD fall off my file, which, all being well, will be in 3 months time! Thank you for your comments and advice and I hope you, mapleleaf, are successful with your house purchase.
