I changed my bank weeks before my trust deed started as advised and went with Lloydstsb, i had no debt with lloyds and have not had a preoblem with them at all. I withdrew everything from my halifax account, changed all my direct debits as the loan i had with halifax was being included in the trust deed. halifax never closed this account, to this day nearly three years on its still open although i dont use it.

Also i was told that when applying for my new bank account i was not under any legal obligation to tell them i was entering into a trust deed. i have debit card, cheque book, direct debit and all you would normally expect except an overdraft. i think the important thing is to make sure the banks you apply to are not "at that point" conected to your debt and apply before you start a trust deed.

I opened an RBS basic account when I started my deed, never had a problem. My old accounts are still open with HBOS, but I can't use them.

I tried the Co-op and lloyds on line applications to no avail.. You would think I owed a couple of million.. Think I will need to go in branch and see if that helps?

Hi glasscheque.

You may have done this already, but it's important to target the "basic" accounts. Online applications often push people towards the more complex (and sometimes charging) accounts.
