I have a stressful job with long hours and little work/life balance. The calculation for my contribution to my Trust is based on the salary for this job. I would like to change jobs to one where I can work more normal hours as the stress is starting to get to me again. I had time off work about a year ago due to work related stress and I can feel all the symptoms coming back. Is it possible to change jobs to one of a lower salary? What ground can I give for doing this as I will not be being made redundant - its for other reasons. It may not be possible to change jobs in this climate, but I would like to try. Can anyone give me advice or have had a similar experience?

if your contributions need to be lowered the trustee may agree to it, if you agree for the trust deed to be extended. i'm pretty sure the agreed amount would still need to be collected. best to run it past your IP i would think. good luck in the job hunting!

Thanks Andy for such a prompt reply. I will take your advice and talk it through with my trustee.

On the other side though, you may need to explain the stress issue with your trustee. I can remember other threads where TDA has said the the trustee may see it as you have intentionally changed your circumstances where you aren't able to maintain the trust deed under the conditions it was signed. It's not like you want to change jobs, it sounds like you have to due to stress and it's good that you recognise the symptoms before you get ill. Hopefully they're sympathetic to this. Is it worth a chat with your GP to see if you can get any help from them?

Good luck with finding a more suitable job.

Nothing left to discharge - everything's done and dusted!

Welcome to the trust deed forum phoenix2.

I think you've had some good advice from andy and gillian.

Talk it through with your trust deed firm and make sure they are aware of the previous and potential health issues.

Whichever way you look at it your health and wellbeing is the most important thing.

Hi,
i recently changed jobs and moved to a better paid job pro rata but do less hours so my wages have dropped slightly. What I find though is that my childcare/fuel/lunches have all reduced too , so hopefully when you change jobs it will work out evens. My IP were great though and didnt have any objections and said if I didnt have the income then my TD could be extended if need be. Hopefully it will work out for you.
