I need some advice.. I am nearing the end of our 1st year of a 4 year TD and our circumstances have changed slightly in the last month..
Firstly some good news is that I have moved to a local authority house rather than a private rent freeing up nearly ยฃ350 per month rent money. However this home is now nearly twice the distance from work/kids school therefore fuel expenses etc are more than doubling. also our car is on its last legs and because of new address we need a more reliable vehicle. Do you think I would be able to get a family member to get a car for me on our behalf and I pay them back off the little excess money we now have?

Hello Maisie.

The decision on this can only come from your trust deed firm.

I think you need to get in touch and run through all of the financial changes with them. I cannot see any issue with the petrol cost increase being factored in, and I'm sure it will be understood that a car is required to get to and from work (which after all is the source of the funds to pay the creditors). Hopefully they'll allow you to find a way to obtain a suitable vehicle.

It sounds as though these things could happen and your creditors still receive a little more than previously expected. That seems like a good outcome all around that I hope your Trustee will support.

Good luck.
