Hi
Has anyone had any problems in getting car insurance on a monthly basis? I've been trying to get some quotes and they are so far looking for full payment up front.

Try Aviva car insurance i am a newly qualified driver and i drive a saab 95 2.2.
I got a premium of 163.00 per month + 2 months free and their customer service is fantastic. Direct debit easily set up also
Worth a try.

I tried them thanks. They quoted me 2 1/2 times average. I think I'm sorted now.
Thats a lot to pay every month!

best bet are the comparison sites.
You should get a monthly premium with a moderate deposit no probs.
They all show monthly premiums but when you go to the site, it says monthly not got available, pay in full. Many hours later I got it sorted

Hi saabrina.
Has the issue you've experienced been connected to credit-checking you personally or is it more to do with the comparison websites not providing accurate information?
Trust deeds aren't generally an issue with car insurance (or at least they haven't been) as in some ways it's not really credit you're being offered. By that I mean if you do not pay the installments the insurance cover will be cancelled so the insurer doesn't really lose out.
Hi TDA
The comparison website shows monthly and annual figures. There were a couple of insurer websites that I went on to directly that wouldn't give a monthly figure. One of them I was all the way to the paying deposit and filling in bank details for DD when it said due to their credit check I could no longer be offered the monthly option. I did get monthly payments in the end, and I know I was credit checked, but it went through anyway. Now they are going to send me a Consumer Credit agreement which I must sign and return within 14 days or I will be charged an extra ยฃ25. By signing this agreement will I be violating my Trust Deed?

Very strange - so far as I know Car Insurance isn't credit gained - I have changed insurers twice and had no issues or credit checks at all.
PS I always pay monthly..
I've always paid monthly too Scotlad and it didn't occur to me there would be an issue. I took it out with Swinton over the phone, I'm not paying any more than I would have expected to, so thats good. As part of all the nonsense he went through on the phone, he said credit checking was standard and I also have to sign the agreement. I've never had to sign a credit agreement before, although always been sent one with the policy documents.

Glad you got it sorted, I just renewed on Thursday there using a popular comparison site.
