Just in case it is useful info to anyone.... I was discharged in may. I needed new car last week, went to arnold clark and got finance. At the deal rate as per their website so same interest rate as anyone else. Was expecting to have to go to some expensive car credit place at crazy rates but thought nothing to lose by trying directly. Glad I did!

That's good Steve - you must be really pleased?

For everyone else reading, we've had quite a few members report that they've been able to obtain mainstream car finance from Arnold Clark after discharge from protected trust deeds.

I also managed to secure finance with AC 6 months after getting discharged, on a new pre-reg car. Their after-sales, however, ain't the best.........

Glad that's over with....

Thanks for sharing. I'm just at the end of my Trust Deed. Just got form 5 today. My car is definitely on its last legs. It's reassuring to know that if it does die, I will not be stuck. #128512;

Well I can confirm I have just been accepted for credit for a new car with Arnold Clark, I was up front I told them I had been discharged from a protected trust deed in May 2014, he seemed to think that it would be Ok and not to worry, and I got a phone call today saying it had all gon through Ok and finance would be sorted. Happy days.

More and more evidence mounting that this might be a good option for people after their discharge.

It's positive to see people being able to secure finance to purchase a new vehicle after successfully completing their Trust Deeds.

It's a common question from people when first taking advice on the impact a TD will have on their credit rating and things like securing a mortgage or finance on a car.

Thanks for taking the time to share.

I was knocked back by Peter Vardy earlier this year.
Might give AC a go in the new year.
