I read recently that a third party can purchase a car for you but can't remember what it said about registering as the current driver. Can anyone tell me how this would work. My friend is offering me his car till I finish my td then I would need to start paying him for it then. This would help me as my car is constantly breaking down just now.
Hi Mrs Mac.
A car needs a "registered keeper". They're responsible for the vehicle, for example if there is a speeding offence.
That doesn't need to be the same person as the owner.
If ownership passed to you before your discharge you may be seen to have acquired an asset.
Thank you trust deed assistant for your help and speedy reply. Do you have a name?
Hello Mrs Mac.
The hours that we monitor the site mean that it would be tough for a single person to do it all of the time. It therefore seemed appropriate to use a character (TDA) as I sometimes get some help from my colleagues in the site advice team here. I'm often Amy though... https://www.trust-deed.co.uk/trust-deed-assistant.html
Some berk actually contacted the Advertising Standards Agency recently to allege that I (as in Amy) don't exist. It helped to sort it out quickly that when the ASA called us to check it was me that answered the phone!
Hi Amy. That explains why you seem to be there answering queries 24 hours a day. Now we know you have a helper and a life of your own!
