Hi, I stupidly had a relapse and gambled this months payment. What can I do about that, if anything

Silly

These things happen.

The best thing to do it to call your administrator explain the position and try and come up with a way to either clear the arrears or extend the trust deed by 1 month.

Hi silly,

Try not to beat yourself up too much about it. As Paul has said these things happen and it should be ok.

Is gambling an issue for you and was it a factor in running up some the debts? Have you thought about self-excluding from websites or even looking at a support group like gamblers anonymous for help?

Gambling is a huge problem in society nowadays and we as advisors are seeing more and more people with gambling issues. Experience tells me it’s a hard thing to try and beat on your own. There is absolutely no shame what so ever in reaching out for help if you need it.

I’d give your Trustee a call and explain to them what has happened and that would it be possible to add the missed payment to the end of the Trust Deed.

Please let us know how you get on.

Thanks guys. I called my Administrator today and explained the situation. It turns out because I will be able to make the payment before my next one is due there will be no need to extend the Deed, this is a huge relief although I do accept it would have been my own fault should this have happened. I have also arranged a new payment date with them so that as soon as I get paid they do so this situation cannot arise again. Its the first I have gambled since entering the deed over 2 years ago, and it will be the last. Thanks again for your advice.

That’s good new silly.

Glad to hear it all worked out and a sensible thing to do changing the payments dates.
