Evening everyone
Hubby and I had TD's taken out in July 2010 discharged from trustee January 2016. No issues of concern throughout trust deed.
Currently we bank with Barclays but looking to change as no branches locally now (several have closed). Made appointment with bank of Scotland for this week to open new account. Just dawned on me that BoS was one of my hubby's creditors taken into TD. Will this affect our chances of getting bank account with them??
I didn't mention anything about TD on phone today
Thanks in advance guys
Hi boys1211.
It's really hard to know whether the bank will rely on public records (your credit files - which will now be clear of the trust deeds) or whether they might have kept their own records of the insolvency.
It's also hard to know how they'd use their own records, assuming they have any.
Has your application been put in?
Hi TDA
Thanks for the reply. No application was submitted, I just called up to arrange appointment about opening joint bank account. Wasn't until I came off phone that I wondered about the TD ??
Not looking for overdraft facility, just local banking
Was thinking of calling tomorrow and explaining re the TD's?? Rather than get a knock back and wasting bank's time and ours !!
Thanks
I guess the problem with these things is that you never really know until the computer says yes or no. Branch staff don't always seem to be especially well trained and equipped to answer such questions.
However, there doesn't seem to be anything to be lost by opening up boys1211? Like you say, it might save some time. There might be some clear criteria that the staff have available to them to review.
I think the lack of need for credit facilities can only work in your favour.
I think we'll just wing it....see how it goes !!
Will let u guys know the outcome
Thanks again for the solid advice as always
I banked with Bank Of Scotland throughout my trust deed without any issues, they even offered me an overdraft...... Dunno if I was lucky, staff member was incompetent or they just liked me, but I never had any issues with them...... And I still bank with them......
