Hi, I wonder if I could ask some advice please. I received Form 5 yesterday - hooray, I'm over the moon and just relieved that we have now been discharged. I understand that it'll be another 3 years until our credit report looks anything like good, but I just wondered what the position with a bank accounts was. When we signed the trust deed we opened a basic cash account with Nationwide. Do you think I would be able to get a better account with them, i.e. to include a cheque book? Or would I have to wait until the 6 years had passed. My daughter does competitive dancing and I have to send off cheques for entry fees, it's a complete nightmare not having a cheque book ๐Ÿ™

Hi Stephanie.

All you can do is ask. It's the only way that you'll find out.

Remember also that it's pretty easy to change to a new bank these days.

It takes up to seven days for a switch to happen, and the work of changing over payments will be done by the banks rather than you.

You'd also be protected if it went wrong.

Stephanie

You can ask your bank to write a cheque for you - they may charge for the servive though. Would the dancing place not accept alternative methods of payment?
