I am just wondering are you able to have a separate bank account where you can put money aside. So for example I have a budget for car emergencies could I put that in a separate bank account each month if not needed? Until such times it might be needs? I was just on the understanding you weren’t allowed to have more than one bank account

Also would you need to show your trust deed proof of the second bank account or only your main one

Sorry another question on the income & expenditure is it your take home pay or the pay before tax you provide monthly? I’m confused

Hi Nicci_36,

You can have a second bank account. Your trustee could reasonably request to see bank statements from all of your accounts.

When assessing your income and expenditure it's your take home pay that's important.

If I open a second bank account would it be ok to transfer money into that that I may not use in my budget for each month? For example car repairs I have a budget of £16 per month but I may not use that each month. The reason I ask is when I phoned carrington dean & asked about putting money aside from my budget for example if I had to save for something they advised I couldn’t have a savings account. It wouldn’t be exactly a savings account just another basic bank account. They said I would be best keeping any money I didn’t use each month in the same account. I’m going on holiday in September all booked & paid for before signing trust deed so I will need to put money aside for spending money & thinking of lower part of my budget for something else so I am and to do this & put it into another bank account so I don’t end up spending it. Only other option is take money out & keep it as cash in my house which I have never done before. Sorry for the long paragraph. I just want to make sure I am doing the right thing

I'm really not sure what the issue with having a second bank account would be Nicci_36.

If it helps you to budget well then that's good for you and your creditors.

Thank you. I don’t see the issue either. It may have just been the person I spoke to at carrington dean I will call them tomorrow to check again
