Dealing with family debt in a Trust Deed can be a little tricky but there is normally always a way to make this work and I’m sure the experts can go into this further with you if you speak with them.

As your parents know about the gambling and debts could you speak with them and tell them that once you have completed the Trust Deed you will look at repaying the money to them? As a parent myself I would want to give my daughter as much support as possible.

Regarding your car, again there may be a way for you to keep this. As I’ve said though it’s about prioritising the possible expensive running costs and trying to get back on track financially.

All of your worries and questions I’m confident in the space of a 10-15 minute phone call with an expert will be covered off and you will feel much better.

Hi Billyboy1.

Channel Active (which owns and operates this website) is connected to Bright Oak. Same Directors etc. This website uses Bright Oak’s advice team (me, Phil, Andrew) to post here as the TDA and to deal with enquiries received via this site.

You haven’t been contacted by Bright Oak. The advisor is contacting you on behalf of Channel Active which operates this site. It sounds like they might have accidentally used the wrong email address to contact you though?

Our advice team often makes an initial call. We can gather information to check that your intended course of action is suitable and sensible. Sometimes this results in referring people to different types of help because a trust deed will not work for them. Other times it’s clear that a trust deed makes sense, and Kevin/Sharon have a headstart because information can be shared with them (with client permission of course).

Kevin’s on holiday this week, but has still been kind enough to share his insight here when he’s had the chance. He’s back at work on Monday.

He’ll want to meet with you face-to-face and the location of that meeting will be flexible.

Hi Billyboy1,

TDA has summarised up how the process works. The team that run the forum will filter enquiries out to begin with for Kevin or Sharon which I think helps to avoid their time being taken up with enquires that they cant really deal with.

You would be able to meet with Kevin at his office or I’m sure he could come and see you. I always prefer face to face with anything I do so if you feel more comfortable doing it that way then stick with that and have a chat with Kevin to organise this on Monday. Just do what you feel comfortable with but don’t rush into anything. Take your time an it will work out fine.

Has that helped to reassure you and give you a better understanding? I can understand why you were unsure about it all.

No problem, your welcome. Stick with Kevin and I’m sure it will all be fine. Both him and Sharon get positive feedback on here.

No problem Billyboy1.

It's good to ask questions until you understand things fully. That's a great starting point to make a good decision.

Hi billyboy1,

You know I’m really pleased to read that you reached out and spoke to the team for help and you are feeling better.

We often say it but actually reaching out for help and speaking to someone is a massive step and one which we know will make that person feel a whole lot better.

Your in safe hands with Phil and Kevin. I’m sure it will all work out.
