HI FOLKS,
Been discharged from a trustdeed for 25 months now.
I'm hoping to change career to the prison service. The problem I have is;
1) would they consider me?
2) the application form asks if i have ever been Bankrupt before? bit of a grey area really because technically I haven't but don't want to risk being knocked back on the assumption that i have been declared bankrump and may consider a trust deed. Likewise, it may also mean any form of bankruptcy and don't want to lie on the form if they later found out i was lying and may have considered a trusteed.
Does anyone else have this problem?M
Hello marty. Welcome to the trust deed forum and congratulations on completing your trust deed.
I don't have specific knowledge of the Prison Service's recruiting criteria but, based upon knowledge of other similar disciplined positions, I actually doubt it will be an issue given that you are now discharged.
Bankruptcy is different to a trust deed so I don't think there is an honesty issue about answering "no" to that question. However, a trust deed is a formal insolvency so it might be worth adding detail regarding the trust deed to the application form or in a covering letter. I can only think that such an obvious display of honesty and integrity would help more than it could hinder given the nature of the role.
You could also call their recruiting team an ask them directly, perhaps on an anonymous basis.
Good luck if you go ahead and please let us know how you get on.
Thanks for the speedy reply, I think i will call tommorrow before sending the application form off.
I will let you know how i get on
