So basically my OH is also in a TD and upon receiving a request
for statements for review he had admitted that a previous gambling problem has
Resurfaced. He has put this down to the stress of furlough and getting threatened with redundancy. He never won anything but spent around £200-300 per month online so obviously it’s on his statement.

On seeing this hos review has concluded that he pay £500 per month (from £240). I have said to him that this is probably because they have assumed that this is money that he doesn’t obviously need but this is absolutely not the case. His mum knew and had helped him out with the promise that he stopped.

I have told him to write and explain this to them in the hope they will understand. Has anyone been in this situation?

We are not on much more salary than we were when we signed up in 2016 and on top of that we now have a child. There is absolutely no way we can afford to pay more (I am still waiting to hear back about mine).

Hi Penny1286.

I think he should consider asking the trustee directly whether this is the reason that his payment has been increased.

The gambling is obviously one possible reason, but it could be something else or a combination of different things.

Asking for a copy of the new income and expenditure statement (used to work out his payment) might also be a good starting point so that you can take a look at the figures and identify if there are any mistakes within it.

He has been trying to call all day. Apparently they are based in Mauritius

Hopefully he can get through soon Penny1286.

Another option might be to ask the same questions by email?
