Hi everyone
My hubby & I discharged from out TD's 3 months ago. My question is what do we do now regarding the "cleaning up" of our credit report. Can anyone provide me with an idiot's guide please? Do we send off for our credit reports, and if so, how/who?

We each have a vanquis credit card & I have just secured a small loan through NHS credit union, which comes directly off my salary & shall be paid off in 6 months. We have mobile phone contracts which are paid by direct debit so no late or missed payments.

Our aim, in the hopefully not too distant future, is to move home for which we will need a bigger mortgage, so any advice at this stage would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, and can I say again how much I love this site.

Hi boys1211.

Three months is a good opportunity for your creditors to update your credit records, so now would be a good time to have a look at them to see if your entries are correct and updated.

Noddle offers a free service which some forum members have been enthusiastic about. When we researched the subject it seemed as though Experian (CreditExpert) was probably the most complete and accurate reporting. You can get a free trial for a month via the following link (and in many other places) but the cost isn't insubstantial if you choose to keep going after the trial:

Link Updated 2020: https://www.trust-deed.co.uk/repair-your-credit-rating.html

Probably best at this stage to obtain your reports and let us know what you find there.

You'll be hoping that balances have been set to zero and that any issued default notices have been marked as being "satisfied" or "partially satisfied".

Hi TDA

Thanks for the swift response (as always).

I'll sign up to experian for the free trial & get hubby to do the same (in other words I'll do it for him!!!). Will post how it goes as I'm sure many people are in same position & hopefully we can help each other.

Thanks again & hope you have a good day

You too boys1211.

It will be interesting to see how much progress your ex-creditors have made updating your file.

Usually some have been very efficient while others will require a little gentle "persuasion" from you!
